Whitefish Lake Real Estate
Whitefish Lake is nestled at the foot of the Whitefish Mountain Range at an elevation of about 3,000 feet. The resort city of Whitefish is contiguous to the lake, with the main village only a few minutes southwest over a viaduct. The lake is about 3,315 acres in surface area and about 7 miles long, 2.5 miles wide, and 222 feet deep. Public use areas include the city beach with boat launch, Whitefish Lake State Park, and Les Mason Park. Whitefish Lake has lake trout, mountain whitefish, some bull trout, rainbow trout and northern pike. The railroad track runs along the west side of the lake – some lakefront properties can be affected by this. Boating is very popular with the north end being less busy due to the boat launch being at the south end.
The shoreline property of Whitefish Lake is dotted with condominiums, cabins and luxury homes . There are some off-lake subdivisions offering common shared access through a homeowners association. Whitefish Lake would be considered mostly developed real estate and the most expensive in the Flathead Valley. There are few unimproved lots for sale.
